I am delighted to inform you that Hong Kong Baptist University has succeeded in its bid to become the operator of Hong Kong’s first Chinese Medicine Hospital (CMH), which is to be built in Pak Shing Kok, Tseung Kwan O.
The CMH project has been the dream of the University since the establishment of its School of Chinese Medicine two decades ago. The decision by the Government to bestow the important responsibility of operating Hong Kong’s first CMH on HKBU is a recognition of the University’s leading role in Hong Kong’s Chinese medicine development.
The establishment of the CMH in Hong Kong will help to meet the public’s keen and ongoing demand for quality Chinese medicine services. Serving as the city’s hub for Chinese medicine clinical teaching and scientific research, the CMH will enhance Hong Kong’s global role in the institutionalisation and standardisation of Chinese medicine. The CMH will also improve the Chinese medicine healthcare system in Hong Kong, and bring huge development opportunities for the Chinese medicine industry.
I would like to thank our predecessors for their vision in developing Chinese medicine through this grand initiative, and our colleagues for their great work and efforts around the submission of the tender. As the pioneer of Chinese medicine education and research in Hong Kong, and with our rich experience of providing Chinese medicine clinical services, we will make the CMH a big success.
